UFile - Quicktax Comparison

Technology Adoption

2006-01-23 00:48:46

Ufile or Quicktax -- I compared these software packages last year at tax time. April's sneaking up on me again and it's time to figure out how I'll do my 2005 taxes. I'm leaning toward working with the accountant I hired last year after a major project put my do-it-yourself accounting plans in flux. Can anyone sway me to use Quicktax or Ufile again? Let me know what packages you'll be using this year.

I always use Quicktax because I don't have any time to learn a new app.

UFile - $19.99 Quicktax - $39.99 UFile wins! On top of that the basic version of UFile allows 10 tax returns where Quicktax only allows 5 I've used UFile before but I'm fully willing to switch. Considered using Quicktax this year but I need to be sold.

Yeah but what normal person would ever need to do 10 tax returns. Sure, if you're an accountant.

My vote goes to Quicktax. Maybe it costs more but I don't have time to learn a new tax return at this stressful time of year. If ufile is so easy to use they should send me a free demo or something.

Ufile is developed by Dr. Tax, who also develops tax software that many accounting firms use. I've tried Quicktax and can't justify the extra $20 in any way. My pick is UFILE hands down. I'm a CA, not currently practising tax, but family & friends ask me to do their returns.

If you know what you are doing, they all work the same ... at least I think they do anyhow. Here is a list of those avail for NETFILE 2005 http://ca.geocities.com/barry123@rogers.com/Filing.htm

Beware of UFile… “The Audacity of being Audacious” “The Arrogance of being Arrogant” Issues… 1) your Ufile support SUCKS…!!!... it’s the 21st century, get phones…!!! 2) It’s been 5 days since my 1st support question and still no intelligent reply to that question or even something that comes close to addressing the question… do they read the questions or does their “support team” consist of 100 chimpanzees banging away on computers… no that’s not fair to the chimpanzees, they would have had a solution for me by now… UFile SUPPORT REALLY SUCKS…!!! 3) 6 to 8 weeks for a refund SUCKS…!!!... what planet do they live on… once again please check your calendar, does it show the year to be 2009, if so 6 to 8 weeks is an eternity in this day and age… what are you folks smoking that it takes 6 to 8 weeks for a refund…???... no really, what are you smoking, I think I might like to try some…!!! 4) Note to self:… never buy a product that doesn’t have immediate phone support… or a real address with a phone number you can contact for whatever you want… oh wait… that means… never buy another product from Ufile or Dr. Tax…!!! 5) Note to self… next year back to QUICKTAX… Have a nice day Really disgruntled UFile customer…
